Putin Explains Why Russia Has Stayed Neutral in the Israel-Iran War
Russian President Vladimir Putin says Moscow has chosen neutrality in the Israel-Iran conflict partly because about two million Russian-speaking people live in Israel. Speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Putin said Russia must consider several factors before taking any decision. He added that Russia’s partnership treaty with Iran does not require Moscow to provide military support or intervene in the conflict. Putin also said Iran has not asked Russia for military assistance. Russia has reportedly asked Israel to protect Russian personnel working at the Russian-built Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran.
