Iranian President Defies Trump, Rejects Pressure Over Sanctions and Gaza

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Iran will not yield to sanctions, military pressure or what he described as bullying by the United States and Israel. He said Iran sees itself as a victim of terrorism and argued that the country needs military strength to prevent future threats. He also criticised scrutiny of Iran’s nuclear programme while accusing Israel of avoiding similar inspections. Pezeshkian said lasting peace in West Asia cannot be achieved without justice for Palestinians. He described Gaza as evidence of the failure of international institutions to protect civilians.
