Lagos Inspects CWAY Water Factory After Viral Consumer Complaints
The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency inspected CWAY’s water production facility after a viral video and consumer complaints raised concerns about the product. Officials reviewed the company’s production, packaging, storage, transportation and distribution processes. They observed bottle filling, capping, labelling and preparation for distribution. Some unsuitable plastic materials had been separated for disposal and recycling. The agency advised CWAY to improve the cleaning and maintenance of packaging materials, use safer bottle handles, set a shelf-life period for bottles and train distributors on proper storage. It also stressed that products should not be exposed to direct sunlight during transportation. LASCOPA urged the company to address the observations and adopt recognised standards for handling and distributing its products.
