ACN Calls for ICC Investigation into Baga Massacre
The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) says the killing of about 185 people in Baga may amount to crimes against humanity and should draw the International Criminal Court’s attention. It argues that the federal government has been unwilling or unable to prosecute those responsible, despite assurances to the contrary. ACN notes that earlier atrocities in Odi and Zaki-Biam fell outside the ICC’s timeframe, but the Baga killings fall within its jurisdiction. The party also blamed the president’s remarks in Borno and Yobe for heightening tensions. It urged the National Assembly to probe the deployment and mandate of foreign troops in the Joint Task Force.
