Mbaka Says Youth Support for Peter Obi Reflects Search for Better Leadership
Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka says many young Nigerians supported Peter Obi because they were searching for leadership that could address hardship and the country’s long-running challenges. Speaking during a church programme, Mbaka said young people should not be blamed for backing a candidate they believed could improve their future. He argued that Nigeria has abundant human and natural resources but has failed to translate them into better living conditions for many citizens. He cited poverty, unreliable electricity, insecurity, land disputes and policies affecting small traders as examples of pressures facing ordinary Nigerians. Mbaka also said Enugu’s coal resources had not produced enough benefits for local residents.
