Video: Six-Year-Old Who Shot Teacher in US School Seen in Newly Released Footage

Newly released body-camera footage shows a six-year-old boy being restrained after he shot his first-grade teacher at a Virginia elementary school in January 2023. Police said the child allegedly took an unsecured gun from his mother’s purse and carried it to school in his backpack. The teacher suffered gunshot wounds to her hand and chest. The boy’s mother was later sentenced to two years in prison for felony child neglect and was released in May 2026. The case has renewed discussion about parental responsibility and child safety. It also comes as Nigerians continue to demand justice in an alleged child-exploitation case involving a couple arrested in Onitsha in September 2026.
