Bednarek Wins Budapest 100m as Nigeria’s Ajayi Finishes Fourth
Kenny Bednarek won the men’s 100m title at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest, clocking a season-best 9.85 seconds. Jamaica’s Oblique Seville took second in 9.90, while American Ronnie Baker was third in 9.93. Nigeria’s Kayinsola Ajayi narrowly missed the podium in fourth place. Ajayi also ran 9.93 but was timed at 9.927, four thousandths of a second behind Baker’s 9.923. The 22-year-old’s performance was an encouraging result against a strong field that included Christian Coleman, Letsile Tebogo and Akani Simbine. Bednarek will also compete in the 200m as he targets a sprint double at the championship.
