Stand Firm in Christ: Lessons from Joseph of Arimathea
After the crucifixion, the Bible is silent about the reaction of religious leaders. Many plotted Jesus’ death, but one man stood apart: Joseph of Arimathea. Scripture (Luke 23:50–56) calls him good and upright because he did not consent to Jesus’ execution. Joseph boldly asked Pilate for Jesus’ body. He prepared the burial with care, wrapping Jesus in linen and placing Him in a new tomb. This act of courage inspires us to resist evil and serve God faithfully. Today, we need more Josephs in the world. Let us stand firm against the devil’s schemes (Ephesians 6:11) and resist by faith (1 Peter 5:9). Be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in the Lord’s work (1 Corinthians 15:58). Philippians 4:1 urges us to “stand firm in the Lord.” May we follow Joseph’s example.
