Desola Afod Apologises to Nollywood Colleagues Over Controversial Remarks

Desola Afod has apologised to practitioners in the Nigerian movie industry over remarks she made during a dispute with some actors. She said her comments were made in anger and wrongly appeared to target the entire industry rather than specific individuals. In her apology, she accepted responsibility for the generalisation and asked senior colleagues and other practitioners to forgive her. She maintained that apologising does not mean giving up her identity, values or right to speak up. The apology followed reactions from actors including Bimbo Success and Wumi Toriola, who urged her to address anyone who had personally offended her rather than criticising the whole industry. Other actors also joined the conversation, calling for her to be more specific in future.
