Flying Eagles Lose 4-1 to Burkina Faso in WAFU B U-20 Final, Miss AFCON Spot

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles lost 4-1 to Burkina Faso in the final of the WAFU B U-20 Championship on Sunday. Burkina Faso dominated from the start, scoring three goals in the opening 15 minutes. The Flying Eagles were unable to mount a comeback, while Burkina Faso added a fourth before Nigeria scored a consolation goal. The result gives Burkina Faso the region’s only qualification slot for the 2027 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana. The tournament will also serve as a qualifier for the 2027 U-20 World Cup, to be co-hosted by Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
