What Happened to the Academic Standards at Federal Government College Ilorin?
I remember when Federal Government College Ilorin was known for admitting outstanding students and producing exceptional results. While many schools celebrated five or six credits, students here were often judged by how many distinctions they earned. The school was also highly competitive in academics, debates and sports. It regularly ranked among the leading secondary schools in Nigeria. Today, I no longer hear of the school making headlines for strong JAMB or WAEC results, sports or debate competitions. What changed, and what can the authorities, alumni and parents do to restore its former standards?
