Police Officer Challenges Harrison Gwamnishu for Recording Delta Stop-and-Search Encounter

Police Officer Challenges Harrison Gwamnishu for Recording Delta Stop-and-Search Encounter

Activist Harrison Gwamnishu shared a video of a stop-and-search encounter with police officers in Delta State. He said an officer asked to search his bag and objected when he began recording the interaction. According to Gwamnishu, the officer ordered him to stop filming, demanded to see the footage and allegedly tried to take his phone after he refused. The situation reportedly changed when the officer in charge identified him. Gwamnishu said the incident raises concerns about police accountability and how ordinary Nigerians may be treated during roadside searches. He maintained that citizens should be treated with dignity and that officers carrying out lawful duties should not fear public recording.
