Medical Expert Says Abuja Kidney Donors Gave Consent, Defends Doctors
A medical expert has said the Abuja kidney procedure involving several young men was voluntary organ donation, not forced harvesting or trafficking. Speaking on a television programme, consultant surgeon Dr. Torngee Malu said the men stated that they understood the purpose of the surgeries and signed affidavits before the procedures. He added that the donors were adults and that the operations were conducted in a standard hospital. Malu argued that the doctors should not be condemned for a procedure he says helped save a patient with end-stage kidney disease.
