Part 7: Daniel Knows More Than He Admits

I stopped speaking to Daniel because nothing made sense anymore. Was our relationship real? Had he found me deliberately? Was everything planned from the beginning? An elderly woman called and introduced herself as Daniel’s aunt. When we met, she gave me a letter Miriam had written. Miriam had discovered that the woman appearing after midnight was not a ghost, but someone using fear to control the women in the house. The person was connected to Daniel’s father. Daniel’s aunt then revealed that Miriam survived for three days after she disappeared. She said Daniel knew part of the truth. When I confronted him, he cried and insisted he never chose me because I looked like Miriam. Before I could answer, the lights went out. A woman’s voice whispered from the darkness: “Daniel is lying.”
