Law vs Grace: How Christ Fulfills God’s Standard and Transforms Our Hearts
The law and the word of His grace represent two distinct phases in God’s unfolding revelation through Jesus Christ. The law, given through Moses, reveals God’s perfect standard and exposes human sin, but it offers no internal power to fulfill its demands. Grace, introduced by Christ, brings internal transformation by the Spirit, empowering believers to live out that standard from a renewed heart. Under the law, obedience is driven by external commands and reveals our inability to achieve righteousness by effort alone. Grace, however, declares righteousness a gift received through faith in Christ. It removes both the guilt and dominion of sin, shifts our relationship with God from fear to fellowship, and transforms our nature so obedience flows from love rather than compulsion. In Christ, believers are no longer under the condemnation of the letter but live under the life-giving power of the Spirit. The law shows the need; grace supplies the solution. Together they reveal the fullness of God’s requirement and provision, calling us to fulfill His standard through the finished work of Jesus Christ.
