Married Zambian Man Found Dead at Girlfriend’s House After Faking Farm Work

Married Zambian Man Found Dead at Girlfriend’s House After Faking Farm Work

A married Zambian man died at his girlfriend’s home after lying to his wife about going to work on a farm. The incident took place in Sinda District, Eastern Province, on Sunday, April 12, 2026. According to police, 50-year-old Julius Mwale left his home around 07:00 on Saturday, claiming he would do piecework at a friend’s farm. Instead, he headed to his girlfriend Anna’s house with his friend Gezani Banda. The two drank locally brewed kachasu with two others around 18:00. Banda later left, but Mwale stayed, saying he wanted to help guard Anna’s maize harvest. At about 02:00, Anna heard a loud snore and found him unresponsive in a sitting position. She alerted the village headman, who contacted the police. Officers removed the body and deposited it at St. Francis Hospital Mortuary, where a postmortem will determine the cause of death.

It's plausible fear of judgment made him dodge home and claim farm work instead, seems suspicious.

It's curious that his route to the farm ended at a private residence; the official timeline still leaves questions around his actual movements.

While it's easy to fault the girlfriend's role, we shouldn't ignore his choice to deceive and wander without informing anyone.
