Enyimba’s difficult start to the 2026/27 NPFL season continued with a 1–0 home defeat to newly promoted Inter Lagos in Aba. Ezekiel Moses scored the only goal in the 18th minute, giving Inter Lagos their first top-flight win while leaving the nine-time champions without a point after four matches. Defending champions Rangers beat Kun Khalifat 4–2 in the Oriental Derby to record consecutive victories. Kano Pillars also made a statement in Kano, ending Doma United’s perfect start with a 4–1 win. Abdullahi Musa, Rabiu Ali and Ahmed Musa were among the scorers as Pillars handed the early league leaders their first defeat. Plateau United came from behind to beat Shooting Stars 3–1, while Abia Warriors claimed a late 2–0 away win over Sporting Lagos. Rivers United were held to a 1–1 draw by Nasarawa United after conceding a late penalty. Elsewhere, Warri Wolves defeated Kwara United 1–0, Katsina United edged Niger Tornadoes by the same scoreline, Ranchers Bees beat Bendel Insurance 2–1, and Barau FC played out a goalless draw with Ikorodu City.
