Grieving Families Defy Tehran Regime at Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery
Six months after the deadly crackdown on anti-regime protesters, bereaved families gather at Behesht-e Zahra in Tehran to remember their lost loved ones. At each grave, mothers, fathers and siblings share stories of courage, sacrifice and enduring grief. Sepehr’s father, known for his anguished cry “Sepehr-e Baba, where are you?”, stands proudly by his son’s gravestone. Mohammadreza’s sister recalls how her brother sheltered others during the protests, while his mother vows to mark his memory “everlasting” when the unrest subsides. Across the grounds, relatives of Sara, Ali and Danyal speak of stolen futures and shattered hopes. They curse the regime’s brutality and refuse to accept labels like “martyr of a terrorist attack”, waiting for the day they can honor their children’s true legacy without fear.
