Eto’o Backs Infantino’s $20bn World Cup Investment Plan for Africa

Eto’o Backs Infantino’s $20bn World Cup Investment Plan for Africa

Cameroonian football federation president Samuel Eto’o has defended Gianni Infantino’s proposed plan to bring private investment into the World Cup. The FIFA president faced criticism and was forced to abandon the proposal, which could have raised up to $20 billion. Eto’o said the project could have helped African countries compete more fairly with football’s traditional powers. He argued that greater investment could help African nations develop and retain more top talents, rather than losing players eligible for other countries.
