Two Arrested for Alleged Illegal Levy Collection at Edo Market
The Edo State Revenue Taskforce has arrested two men accused of collecting unauthorised levies at Uwelu Spare Parts Market in Egor Local Government Area. The arrests followed complaints from traders and customers, who alleged that the suspects issued tickets and demanded payments from people conducting legitimate business in the market. Taskforce commander Johnbull Rufus said the operation was launched after the complaints were received. He warned that illegal revenue collectors should stop, stressing that the state government has banned unauthorised ticketing and extortion.
