Nigerians Criticize Fire Service Boss’s Lavish Convoy in Kogi

Nigerians Criticize Fire Service Boss’s Lavish Convoy in Kogi — 1 of 5
1 / 5

A viral video shows the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, Olumode Adeyemi, leading a large convoy of red emergency vehicles through his home state of Kogi. The fleet included Toyota pickups, SUVs, outrider motorcycles, support vans and black security SUVs. As his convoy slowed near a crowded venue, men in black suits and red ties escorted his red SUV. Locals cheered him on during a thanksgiving event to mark his July 2025 appointment. Many Nigerians have taken to social media to condemn the display. They argue it is excessive, especially when fire stations across the country lack functional vehicles.

Why is Controller-General Adeyemi leading a massive fleet of emergency vehicles around Kogi like a presidential motorcade?

I also dey wonder why the fire service boss needs a convoy fit rival any governor's.

The video shows more luxury on wheels than an actual rescue team might need for genuine emergencies.

The service should publish a clear breakdown of convoy purpose and costs so citizens can track public resources.
