Wike: Appeal Court Ruling Offers PDP a Fresh Start Ahead of 2026 Convention
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike says the Court of Appeal’s judgment nullifying the PDP’s Ibadan convention is a chance to rebuild unity within the party. He noted the court confirmed the party’s failure to follow the 1999 Constitution, the Electoral Act 2022, and its own rules. Wike explained that valid state congresses and proper INEC notice were not held before the November 2025 convention. He stressed that ignoring legal requirements turns internal disputes into matters of law. He urged PDP members to drop personal interests and embrace due process. A caretaker committee will manage party affairs until a new national convention on March 29–30, 2026 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Velodrome elects valid officers.
