Nigeria, Jamaica Sign Deal to Expand Technical Aid Opportunities for Professionals
Nigeria and Jamaica have signed a technical assistance agreement to expand cooperation under Nigeria’s Technical Aid Corps programme. The agreement was signed during the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York. Jamaica expressed interest in receiving more Nigerian professionals, especially nurses, teachers and other skilled workers, to support its health, education and development sectors. Both countries also highlighted the programme’s cultural impact. Jamaican artisans trained through the initiative developed “JADIRE”, which blends Jamaican designs with Nigeria’s Adire textile tradition. The deal creates a framework for broader people-to-people exchanges and future cooperation between Nigeria and Jamaica.
