Joseph’s Dream: Accepting Jesus as His Son (Matthew 1:18-25)

Matthew 1:18-25 tells how Joseph responded to Mary’s miraculous pregnancy. He planned to divorce her quietly to protect her from disgrace. An angel appeared to him in a dream. The angel explained that Mary’s child was conceived by the Holy Spirit. Joseph obeyed and took her as his wife. This fulfilled the prophecy that a virgin would bear a son called Immanuel, meaning “God with us.” Joseph waited until after the birth to consummate the marriage and named the child Jesus, for he would save his people from their sins.
