Army Arrests Yobe Politician Over Alleged ISWAP Logistics Support
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested Yobe-based politician Alhaji Wakiil Goni Mama, also known as Mai Salati, over allegations of providing logistics support to Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements in the North-East. Security sources said the arrest followed the detention of suspects in Kanamma, Yobe State, who were allegedly linked to terrorist logistics. Mai Salati is accused of attempting to offer money to military personnel to secure the suspects’ release. The troops reportedly rejected the alleged inducement and took him into custody. He and the other suspects have been moved towards Maiduguri for interrogation and further investigation. The allegations have not yet been proven in court. Security sources dismissed claims that the arrest was connected to partisan politics or any reported change of political party.
