Onaiyekan: Tinubu Rejected Catholic Bishops’ Assessment of Nigeria
Cardinal John Onaiyekan says President Bola Tinubu rejected concerns raised by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria during a meeting at the State House in Abuja. Speaking on an Arise Television programme, the Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja said the bishops gave the President what they considered an honest assessment of the country’s situation. He said they were concerned that people around Tinubu may be presenting an overly positive picture of Nigeria. Onaiyekan said the bishops felt obliged to speak frankly about the hardships facing Nigerians, even though their message appeared to receive a frosty response. He added that the President clearly disagreed with their assessment.
