The Muslim North: Nigeria’s Ideological Fortress
In Revelation 12:15-17, a serpent tries to sweep the woman away with a flood of water. In this vision, the serpent represents Rome and its flood of pagan ideas. The woman stands for the exiles from Judah and Benjamin after Jerusalem fell in AD 70. The earth opens and protects the woman by swallowing the flood. This earth is the ideological bulwark that shielded God’s people from foreign doctrines. Yet the dragon—Rome—continues to wage war against the remnant who keep Christ’s testimony. Similarly, the Muslim North serves as Nigeria’s ideological fortress. It has stood against waves of secular influences and remains vital in preserving faith and values.
