Gombe Man Arrested After Brutal Hammer Attack on Girlfriend
The Gombe State Police Command arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly attacking his girlfriend with an iron hammer and attempting to strangle her with a USB cable. Police say the suspect scaled the fence of the victim’s home on June 9 and forced entry into her room. He reportedly robbed her of ₦100,000 before fleeing when she raised the alarm. The injured woman was treated and discharged from hospital. Officers recovered the blood-stained hammer and cable and arrested the suspect at 9:45 a.m. the same day. Authorities state the man had earlier demanded money from the victim, a businesswoman, and will be charged to court once investigations conclude.
