Sanwo-Olu Gives Land Allocation Letters to 98 Ito-Omu Communities

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has presented land allocation letters to 98 indigenous communities in the Ito-Omu New Town project area along the Lekki-Epe corridor. The governor said the exercise recognises the communities’ land rights and secures their role in the area’s long-term development. He said consultations with traditional rulers, farmers, religious leaders and residents began in 2020 before the development plan was prepared. The Ito-Omu plan is expected to combine residential, commercial, industrial and institutional land use. Sanwo-Olu said the state will provide roads, bridges and other infrastructure, while warning beneficiaries against speculative land transactions. The Lands Bureau said the allocation fulfils a 2020 promise to the communities and follows more than ₦3.1 billion in compensation paid to people affected by the project.
