Ogun Police Rescue Kidnap Victim, Kill Two Suspects and Seize ₦2.2m
The Ogun State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit freed a hostage on June 18 without injury. Officers neutralised two armed suspects in a follow-up raid and recovered a single-barrel gun, an expended cartridge, a mobile phone and ₦2.2 million believed to be proceeds of crime. The victim was abducted on June 11 at Ogbe Village. Intelligence gathering and tactical surveillance guided the operation that led to the safe release and pinpointed the kidnappers’ hideout. During the arrest attempt, the suspects opened fire, triggering a gun duel. Two were killed on the spot and others escaped with gunshot wounds. The police say the manhunt continues as investigations expand to uncover more members of the criminal network. Residents are urged to share credible tips to support security efforts.
