FCT Police Arrest Woman Over Death of Newborn Found in Jabi

The FCT Police Command says it has arrested a 27-year-old woman in connection with the death of a newborn baby found in a bush in the Jabi area of Abuja. Police said officers responded to a distress call on October 4 and recovered the infant, who was later confirmed dead at a hospital. The child reportedly had injuries to the throat and abdomen. Investigators traced the suspect with help from members of the community. Police allege that she gave birth in her room on October 3 before harming the child, and that she cited her feelings toward the baby's father during questioning. The Commissioner of Police condemned the incident and said investigations are continuing.
