A magistrate court in Kano State has ordered the remand of Ali Suleiman over the alleged murder of his wife, Maryam Badamasi, just two months after their wedding. Prosecutors say Suleiman killed Maryam to gain access to her wealthy family’s assets. His counsel informed the court the offence carries a capital sentence and asked for time to seek legal advice. Magistrate Sadiya Zakirai granted the request and ordered that Suleiman remain in custody pending further legal guidance.
