I Scored 334 in JAMB and 88% in UNILORIN Post-UTME, But I Cannot Pay My School Fees
I registered for an online JAMB tutorial in December 2025 and paid for it with money I earned from tutoring junior students. Despite a tight routine, I scored 334 in JAMB while aiming to study Computer Science at UNILORIN. Because UNILORIN is highly competitive, I prepared again for the Post-UTME and scored 88%. After months of waiting, rumours and anxiety, I finally gained admission on merit. My father gave me ₦40,000 for the acceptance fee, but he said that was all he could afford. Now that school has resumed, I am still struggling to raise the full school fees, which must be paid at once. I am also worried about how to access NELFUND when major entry payments are required before the loan process can help. Merit should not end at admission. Alumni associations and universities should consider supporting indigent students who gain admission on merit. My advice to JAMB candidates from low-income homes is to start planning for sponsorship and first-year fees early. Academic brilliance alone may not be enough.
