Orire Kidnap Survivor Speaks Out: We Were Released, Not Rescued
I was seized with others by terrorists on May 15, 2026, near Ogbomoso. They made us drop our phones, but Mr Michael Oyedokun kept his. The camp commander ordered his execution for disobedience. He was slaughtered the next day. Days later, they murdered Deacon John Olaleye for supposedly allowing the military to approach their camp. We only heard his cries as they took him away. For 56 days we were blindfolded, chained, beaten and forced to endure harsh conditions. The captors prayed and recited the Quran without fail. But anyone who mentioned Jesus was severely beaten. Their sole demand was the release of arrested members. We survived on plain rice with red oil and occasional meat. They freed us after our families were taken by the military. They guided us to two streams, then handed us over to waiting soldiers. I recognised one captor from photographs. I thank God for our survival, but grieve the loss of Mr Oyedokun and Deacon Olaleye.
