FCTA, Dispatch Riders Partner to Identify Criminal Operators in Abuja
The Federal Capital Territory Administration has partnered with the National Union of Dispatch Riders and Mail Operators of Nigeria to identify legitimate dispatch riders and curb criminal activity in Abuja. The union has introduced a central database, registration portal and unique body numbers for registered riders. The system is expected to help residents and security agencies verify riders and distinguish them from unregistered operators. FCTA Transportation Secretary Chinedum Elechi said the initiative would help authorities isolate criminal elements allegedly using dispatch boxes to conceal illegal items. The union said reliable rider data could also improve accountability, safety, welfare support and regulation of the growing dispatch industry.
