Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike has urged all Peoples Democratic Party aspirants for the 2027 elections to prepare for a tough fight. He stressed that power is never handed over but taken through sustained struggle. Recalling his own political battles, including a Supreme Court case over a local government chairmanship, Wike cautioned against a “food is ready” mindset. He told candidates to deliver concrete victories — such as House of Assembly and House of Representatives seats — before coming to the NEC. He dismissed rival claims by a faction led by Tanimu Turaki, noting that INEC’s nomination portal will determine who is legitimate. Wike also challenged party members not to fear intimidation or legal battles and said only serious contenders should remain active in the race.
