Wife of ISWAP Fighter Flees Enclave with Infant, Surrenders to Troops in Borno

Wife of ISWAP Fighter Flees Enclave with Infant, Surrenders to Troops in Borno — 1 of 2
1 / 2

A woman linked to an ISWAP fighter surrendered to Operation Hadin Kai troops with her two-month-old baby in Kukawa LGA, Borno State. She escaped the Dogon Chuku enclave while her husband and other fighters were away. During an initial debrief, she said severe food shortages and harsh living conditions forced her to flee. The mother and child are now quarantined and receiving medical care under standard procedures. Military sources say debriefing is ongoing and she will be sent to the Sector 3 headquarters for further profiling. Officials add that her surrender highlights the growing pressure on terrorist camps from coordinated ground and air operations across the North-East.

Absolutely, sounds like a real-life thriller—I'm curious what pushed her to trek off with her baby.

Food shortages in Dogon Chuku enclave might explain her flight, but could there be more to this story?

It's too soon to call her surrender a success until we see how troops treat her and the baby.

Troops should coordinate with humanitarian agencies to ensure she and her infant get proper nutrition and medical care immediately.
