Lawyer Accuses Court of Delaying Passport for Urgent Heart Treatment Abroad

Lawyer Accuses Court of Delaying Passport for Urgent Heart Treatment Abroad

An Abuja-based human rights lawyer says the FCT High Court is deliberately postponing his application for passport release and forcing him to miss crucial medical appointments in the UK. In a motion, Barrister Victor Giwa detailed adjournments from May 25 to June 3 and now June 10. He told the court he suffers from heart disease and high blood pressure, and risks a stroke or cardiac arrest without prompt treatment. Giwa also alleged persecution by a retired AIG and a company staffer who filed the initial petition. He denied forging a Senior Advocate’s letterhead after the SAN publicly refuted the forgery claim in a letter to the Inspector-General of Police.

It seems odd that a high court would delay a passport release for medical reasons multiple times without clear explanations.
