Carpe Diem: A Christian Youth’s Call to Embrace Today
As young believers, we often feel naive and unprepared for life’s challenges. My advice to myself—and to you, dear Segun—is simple: seize the day. Don’t wait for tomorrow, for those who hesitated yesterday now lie in the earth. Christ walks with you in every moment. In your youthful days, opportunities abound. Eat, drink and stay active in your faith. Make the most of your time, for one day this same flower that smiles today will fade. Below is an excerpt from a 17th-century poem by Robert Herrick titled “To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time.” Let it inspire you to gather every rosebud while you may: Gather ye rose-buds while ye may, Old Time is still a-flying; And this same flower that smiles today Tomorrow will be dying.
