Sultan of Sokoto Says No One Should Be Forced to Accept Islam
The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has said that no one should be compelled to embrace Islam. He urged Muslims to respect the rights and freedoms of people who practise other faiths. Speaking at the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs general assembly in Abuja, the Sultan said people should be free to choose their religion. He added that peaceful coexistence requires Christians and Muslims to avoid insulting one another.
