National Library in Lafia Says It Has Been Without Electricity for 14 Years

The National Library of Nigeria’s Nasarawa State branch says its Lafia facility has gone without public electricity for more than 14 years. The branch head said the outage, alongside a lack of internet access and inadequate bookshelves, has disrupted research, learning, digital preservation and daily services at the library. She appealed to the Nasarawa State Government, corporate organisations and philanthropists to support modern library infrastructure, including digital databases, research tools and digitised archives. Authors and researchers were also reminded to deposit their publications with the National Library for preservation.
