Omotola Questions Nollywood’s Lack of Residual and Royalty Payments

Nollywood veteran Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has highlighted the sharp difference between how performers are compensated in Hollywood and Nollywood. She said that although she worked in Hollywood for only five years, she still receives residual and royalty payments for past projects. In contrast, she said she has not received any such payment after about 30 years in Nollywood. Omotola’s remarks have renewed concerns about royalties, residuals and long-term compensation for actors in Nigeria’s film industry.
