Carnegie Mellon Reviews Uju Anya’s Allegedly Hostile Social Media Posts
Carnegie Mellon University says it is reviewing recent social media posts attributed to Nigerian-born academic Dr Uju Anya, which it described as hostile and threatening. The university said Anya is on voluntary professional leave and will not teach on campus during the current academic year. It stressed that the posts do not represent the institution and are inconsistent with its community standards. A widely shared screenshot allegedly showed Anya making a hostile remark about a white man. Her X account later became unavailable, although it was unclear whether she deactivated it or it was removed for another reason. The university has not said whether Anya has been suspended or disciplined. Anya had not publicly responded to the controversy at the time of the report.
