AFCON 2027 Hosting Faces Scrutiny as CAF Monitors East African Preparations

AFCON 2027 is facing growing concern over infrastructure preparations in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, with less than nine months to the scheduled June kick-off. A report says CAF has made preliminary enquiries with possible alternative hosts, including Morocco, Algeria and South Africa. Egypt and Côte d’Ivoire have also been mentioned. No decision has been made to move the tournament. CAF recently inspected stadiums, training facilities, hotels, airports and other infrastructure across the three host nations. Kenya and Uganda are reportedly of greatest concern, while CAF president Patrice Motsepe maintains that there is no Plan B or Plan C. CAF is due to conduct another inspection in January 2027. That visit is expected to show whether the hosts are on track to stage the competition from June 19 to July 17, 2027.
