Musawa Urges Nigerians to Remember June 12 Beyond the Public Holiday
The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, says June 12 should be remembered as the sacrifice that helped secure Nigeria's democracy, not merely as a public holiday. She spoke at the Lagos premiere of “MKO,” an investigative documentary on Chief Moshood Abiola, held as part of activities marking Nigeria's 66th Independence Anniversary. Musawa said the film would help younger Nigerians understand the struggle, losses and sacrifices behind the June 12, 1993 election and Nigeria's democratic journey. The documentary's director said it was produced to honour those who fought for democratic rule.
