Prisons in the Netherlands are introducing a trial that allows female inmates to buy sexual-wellness aids at cost price. Officials say the measure is intended to reduce infections linked to unsafe homemade alternatives. According to Dutch reports, inmates can choose from two approved products. The policy follows concerns that some prisoners had improvised with unsuitable items, increasing the risk of fungal infections and other health problems. The Dutch Custodial Institutions Agency said safe access could support relaxation, sleep and sexual health. The trial is expected to run for one year before officials decide whether to continue the policy.
