Rivers United coach Finidi George says FC San Pedro are a fair preliminary-round opponent in the 2026/27 CAF Champions League, but has warned his side not to be complacent. Rivers United will begin the tie away in Abidjan before hosting the Ivorian club at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. Finidi said the team will study their opponents closely and plan for a positive first-leg result. Rangers International, Nigeria's other representative in the competition, will face Sobemap FC of Benin Republic.
