INEC Plans Real-Time Election Readiness Tracker for 2027 Polls
The Independent National Electoral Commission says it plans to introduce a real-time system for monitoring preparations for the 2027 general election in all 36 states and the FCT. The proposed operational tracker will provide updates on key tasks, including the movement of election materials, training and deployment of ad hoc staff, logistics, voter registration and financial compliance. It will be linked to INEC’s Election Monitoring and Support Centre dashboard and election project plan. INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan said the system is intended to help the commission identify and address gaps before election day rather than reacting after problems arise. The commission expects the 2027 election to involve a voter register nearing 100 million people.
