Cross River Police Arrest Suspect After Man Dies in Alleged ₦500 Dispute
Police in Cross River have arrested a suspect after a 42-year-old man, Ayei Ekpe Ibor, died following an alleged fight over ₦500 in Kekoti, Ajere, Yakurr Local Government Area. The police said the suspect, Ebino Mbang Ikpi, was arrested at a hideout in the Ajere-Ekori area after allegedly fleeing the scene. He has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. After the arrest, some people allegedly attacked the Ekori Police Division while demanding the suspect’s release. Police said stones damaged windows, office property, part of the roof and a police vehicle. The home of the Ajere Youth Leader was also reportedly attacked. The command said the situation has been brought under control and efforts are continuing to identify those involved in the attacks.
