God Keeps His Covenant: From Jacob’s Sorrow to Joy
Life has seasons of sorrow and seasons of joy. Jacob believed that Joseph was dead after seeing his bloodstained robe. Yet, years later, he received the good news that Joseph was alive and ruling in Egypt. What looked like a dead dream had become a testimony of God’s faithfulness. At Beersheba, Jacob offered sacrifices to God before continuing his journey to Egypt. It was a reminder of God’s covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God assured Jacob of His presence, protection and promise to make his family a great nation. In Acts 2, the promise of the Holy Spirit was fulfilled, and many people responded to the message of Jesus with repentance and baptism. The same God who turned Jacob’s sorrow into joy can fulfil His promises in our lives. As we worship today, may every delayed promise and righteous desire receive God’s divine intervention. Amen.
